This project embraced the current trend in education that is active learning through the use of clicker technology or the classroom response system (CRS) adapted in the Philippine setting. The CRS can be used to measure students’ frequent response (class participation) and accurate response (level of understanding). It can also generate a summary of responses from the short assessment questions that the teacher will provide for every topic to ascertain the understanding of students for a particular topic that is being discussed. With these, it can be helpful for teachers in gauging students’ level of understanding and the result can be considered for course syllabus review together with the course outcome assessment.

Even though that there are readily available systems, the implementation of such system is quite expensive because of the required high speed internet access aside from the CRS subscription and license, particularly public schools in rural areas that has very limited budget. This is why this project aimed to use the readily available equipment like computer, router and cheap Android phones to implement CRS anywhere in the Philippines without the need for internet connection or network infrastructure.
